Situation
GOLD PR was retained by Symmetry Electronics to introduce and position the small, start-up company in the crowded electronics franchised distribution marketplace. Symmetry wanted to penetrate a competitive segment of the market that was experiencing the worst economic slump in the history of the industry. Over 25 percent of this market was already dominated by the top three largest franchised distributors. GOLD PR helped the company break through the clutter to communicate the company’s position and market growth strategy.
Approach
GOLD PR launched a grassroots media relations campaign that focused on what lines the company offered and its unique value proposition – ‘bigger is not always better.’ GOLD PR also helped position the company as "top of mind" with trade media, so when the industry recovery happened, and companies start investing in technology again, Symmetry was already be top of mind for IT buyers.
Results
Within nine months, Symmetry graced the pages of every major trade publications EBN, Electronic News and EE Times several times; and was named ‘One of the Fastest Growing Distributors’ and named to the Industry’s Top 50 List of Distributors.
